Aldila Rogue Shaft Review

Aldila boasted one of the most popular shafts of all time when it released the Rogue Limited Edition 125 MSI. The Rogue Silver 130 MSI builds on the success of that shaft and delivers an improved form for the ultimate in low-launch and low-spin performance. The Rogue Silver 130 MSI combines DIALEAD pitch fiber, ion plating, and NexGen Micro Laminate Technology (MLT) to give players more performance and higher levels of consistency.

The Rogue Silver 130 MSI features a higher balance point that is gaining in popularity with high-end premium golf shafts and is designed for players looking to gain clubhead speed and accuracy with their drivers and fairway woods.

Key Features

DIALEAD pitch Fiber, or Graphitic carbon fiber, possesses outstanding strength to weight and energy transfer properties that help the shaft maintain its shape during the golf swing.

NexGen Micro Laminate Technology uses ultra-thin layering to incorporate aerospace grade materials into a weave that eliminates shaft “dead zones” for improved shot consistency.

Thicker walls near the butt end of the shaft give the Rogue Silver 130 MSI a higher balance point that promotes faster clubhead speeds and more distance.

Design and Technology

Aldila used a higher balance point and advanced materials to improve the performance of the Rogue shaft. This low-torque shaft gives elite players and high swing speed golfers more stability at impact. The high kick point encourages lower launch and lowers spin through the the less dynamic loft. The Graphitic carbon fiber enhances control without reducing feedback and helps players time golf shots more effectively than prior models. The Rogue 130 MSI is a complete golf shaft optimized for driver performance.

During my testing with the Rogue Silver 130 MSI shaft, I was hitting a Callaway Epic Flash driver. I had the club built with the 60-gram Tour-extra-stiff version. The Rogue shaft was responsive and held up at driver swing speeds above 115 miles per hour. I am familiar with the higher balance point shafts and enjoy their response in my gamer driver and the Epic. Overall I found the Rogue Silver 130 MSI to be an outstanding performer that left very little to be desired.

The Rogue Silver 130 MSI shaft is an unquestioned performer in the premium golf shaft category. Aldila rivals every other offering in the complete package it delivers in the Rogue 130 MSI. The enhanced stability coupled with the higher balance point gives players more options and the ability to hit the golf ball further. Players looking to upgrade their driver shaft need to be trying the newest Rogue from Aldila.

Aldila Rogue Shaft

The Aldila Rogue Silver 130 MSI 60 Stiff Shaft is a custom-assembled graphite shaft designed for TaylorMade drivers. It offers precision and performance for golfers looking for a high-quality option. This shaft has a remarkable impact on ball trajectory, with its stiff flex and advanced materials promoting a penetrating ball flight, perfect for players seeking a lower and more controlled trajectory.

When comparing the Aldila Rogue Silver 130 MSI 60 Stiff Shaft to other popular golf shafts, its unique combination of high modulus graphite and innovative design sets it apart. It provides exceptional stability and control, making it an excellent choice for golfers who want to maximize both distance and accuracy off the tee.

PROS

  • Better strength to weight ratios from the Graphitic Carbon Fiber help make Rogue 130 MSI more stable.
  • NexGen Micro Laminate Technology combines with Ion Plating to give the Rogue an outstanding look and feel.
  • The higher balance point will help some players gain club head speed and distance.

CONS

  • Rogue is not offered in weights below 60 grams and that can be too heavy for some player’s preferences.
  • The lower torque can feel stiff and boardy to some players compared to other premium shaft offerings.
  • Rogue Silver 130 MSI carries one of the highest price tags of all premium shaft models.

Our Experience

The Aldila Rogue Shaft series, including the Rogue Silver, Rogue Black, and Rogue White models, is designed to cater to a wide range of golfers. The Rogue Silver 130 M.S.I., for example, is known for its stability and low spin, making it ideal for players with fast swing speeds who seek a lower trajectory. The Rogue Black, on the other hand, offers a slightly softer tip, which can help produce a higher launch and more spin, suitable for those looking for a bit more forgiveness and a higher ball flight.

The Rogue White 130 M.S.I. slots in between the Silver and Black profiles, providing a slightly higher launch while maintaining low spin. This makes it a versatile option for golfers who want a balance of control and distance. Across all models, the Rogue shafts have been praised for their ability to maintain consistent performance, even under different playing conditions.

One of the standout features of the Aldila Rogue Shaft is its feel. Many golfers have noted the smooth energy transfer from grip to tip, which results in a stable yet active feel throughout the swing. The Rogue Silver 130 M.S.I., for instance, has a stiffer butt section and a slightly softer tip compared to its predecessor, the Rogue Silver 125 M.S.I., offering better clubhead control through impact.

The Rogue Black provides a more lively feel due to its softer tip, without compromising on stability. This makes it a great option for players who prefer a bit more feedback during their swing. The Rogue White 130 M.S.I. is described as having a smooth, effortless release, making it easier to achieve a natural draw and consistent ball speed without exerting too much effort.
