When Eli Callaway started the Callaway Golf Company by selling clubs out of the back of his car, he had one goal in mind: to be at the technological forefront, and make clubs that allowed players to get the most out of their game.

Fast forward decades later, and that’s exactly what the company continues to do today.

The Mavrik fairway woods embody Mr. Callaway’s original goal.

They’re jam-packed with the latest and greatest technology, while maintaining a classic traditional look that golfers love.

Key Features

A.I.-optimized Flash Face is one of the hottest in the game.

Progressive leading edge allows golfers to launch the ball high.

A single-weight deep and low in the sole maximizes launch while minimizing spin.

Design and Technology

There’s a lot to unpack when it comes to talking about the technology and design that’s found in Callaway’s Mavrik fairway woods.

From an aesthetic standpoint, the Mavrik fairway woods are some of the most “normal” Callaway has made in quite a while. We classify the clubhead’s shape as traditional and round. The white chevron on the top of the club not only provides a great directional aid, it inspires confidence against the club’s black crown.

The faces are inspired by A.I. design and incorporate Flash Face Technology. This technology makes the Mavrik’s face one of the thinnest in the game. The result? Explosive ball speeds and maximum distance

Behind the face, you’ll find Jail Break and Face Cup Technologies that add stability to both solid and off-center shots, while also increasing COR for faster ball speeds.

In the back of the clubhead, you’ll find a single weight. This weight is strategically placed to lower the CG and move it back in the clubhead. The result is a high launch but a surprisingly flat trajectory. Even though these fairway woods fly high, they fight through the wind as well as anything on the market.

One of the more subtle characteristics of the Mavrik fairway woods is their progressive leading edge. Not only does the leading edge help golfers get the ball in the air when they catch one a little thin, it improves turf interaction and keeps the club from digging.

Callaway Mavrik Fairway Wood

The Callaway Mavrik Fairway Wood is a game-changing addition to any golfer's bag, offering unparalleled distance, forgiveness, and playability. Engineered with cutting-edge technology, including the Flash Face SS20 and Jailbreak chassis, this fairway wood is designed to deliver high launch and flat trajectories, making it an ideal choice for golfers seeking to bridge the gap between their driver and irons. With its impressive ball speed, powerful distance, and versatile design, the Mavrik Fairway Wood has garnered rave reviews from both amateur and professional golfers alike. Here’s a closer look at what makes this fairway wood stand out.

PROS

  • A.I.-inspired face is one of the hottest in the game, even to this day.
  • CG low and back in the clubhead fosters conditions for high launch and low spin, the ideal combination for maximum distance.
  • Face Cup and Jailbreak Technologies add plenty of stability no matter where you hit the ball on the clubface.

CONS

  • Price point remains high compared to other fairway woods that were introduced in 2020.
  • Can be difficult to find because they’re in such high demand.
  • Lack of shaft options in the women’s woods may be a deterrent.

Our Experience

Most anybody that’s ever hit a Callaway wood would agree that it’s an experience you don’t forget.

That’s certainly what we found with the Mavrik fairway woods. Even though these clubs are a couple years old, their design and technology features remain cutting-edge.

When I got the Mavrik fairway woods on the range, the first thing that caught my eye was the clean, traditional look. Unlike a lot of modern fairway woods that are oddly shaped, the Mavrik’s inspire confidence at address.

I also noticed the high launch these fairway woods produce. And while you might think such a high launch would get eaten up by the wind, such couldn’t be further from the truth. The flight was strong and boring.

I also liked the sound they made coming off the face. It was anything but tinny, and you really know when you catch one dead nuts.
