Drive for show, putt for dough. That’s been my dad’s favorite modicum since he introduced me to the game of golf.

He’s not wrong. Every time we play, I hit it miles past him, but he’s never too worried because he knows he can putt the eyes out of the hole, and I seldom do.

Sure, Dad’s prowess on the greens is due in large part to a gifted set of hands, the genes of which weren’t passed down to me. But his new Garsen putting grip has certainly helped as well.

I’d never heard of Garsen putter grips until I had to pay the Old Man after our round last week, and he told me it’s been a game changer for him.

After trying the grips out for myself, I’m a believer, and feel compelled to share some of the magic with you all.

Key Features

Oversize design takes hands and wrists out of the putting motion for a more reliable, consistent stroke.

Flat topline and bottom of grip make it easy to set the putter up square to the intended line.

Minimal tack and soft cushioning give you plenty of stability without having to grip your putter hard.

Design and Technology

Tour winners, the likes of Tony Finau and Brooke Henderson, have made their mark using Garsen putting grips. There are a number of styles to choose from, and we’re going to take a deep dive into the most popular three below.

 The Max

The Max putter grip takes a traditional putter grip and literally twists it on its head. The front of this grip is rotated 45 degrees in a direction that biomechanically makes it almost impossible for your hands and wrists to take over during the stroke.

In short, your palms face each other and your hands are in a neutral position. From this position, you’re more apt to engage your larger muscles and make a more consistent, repeatable stroke.

 The Ultimate

When we talk about the Ultimate Garsen putting grip, one word comes to mind: versatility.

This grip places your thumbs on the side of the grip in a way that feels less exaggerated than other grips in the line. Still, your palms are facing each other which is a key fundamental for starting the ball online where you’re looking.

Unlike other traditional putter grips, the Ultimate has three flat sides. Again, this promotes palms facing which is a key fundamental in putting setup.

This grip is also advantageous for golfers that hold the putter in an unconventional manner. If you use any variation of the claw, saw, cross-handed, or pencil method, the Ultimate grip is designed for you.

 Quad Tour

One of the most popular grips in the Garsen line is the Quad Tour. This grip features a flat top and bottom line which allows golfers to easily square the putter face at address, and keep it square throughout the stroke.

With that said, this grip is considered one of the most comfortable because it allows you to keep your hands in a comfortable, traditional position.

Like the Ultimate, the Quad Tour allows you to utilize any number of different grip methods, but doesn’t detract from the feel of traditional putter grips we’re all accustomed to.

Garsen Golf Grips

The GARSEN GOLF Putter Grips ‘Max Tour’ is a highly innovative and effective golf grip that offers a range of benefits to golfers. Its square grip design allows for a 45% rotation, resulting in improved accuracy and distance control. This grip is designed to place the hands in a neutral position, which promotes relaxed arms and soft grip pressure. The Max Tour grip also provides versatile grip positions to accommodate different styles of play.

PROS

  • Oversize design takes hands and wrists out of the stroke.
  • High-quality material feels both comfortable and stable at address.
  • Different color options suit the tastes of any golfer.

CONS

    • May take some getting used to for golfers accustomed to traditional putter grips.
    • Grips may change swing weight and dynamics of your current putter.
    • Availability may vary depending on demand and inventory levels.

Our Experience

When it comes to putter grips, I’ve tried just about everything under the sun. And I’ve found quite a bit of success with larger grips that take my hands out of the stroke.

With that said, I’m especially impressed with the Garsen line of grips. They’re clearly highly engineered and well-built.

Not only do these grips feel great and take the small muscles out of my putting stroke, they aren’t awkward in the least.

I’ve especially noticed myself making more short putts, and my distance control hasn’t suffered in the slightest.

These grips are all winners in my book.
