When it comes to premium golf clubs, no company has moved the needle quite like Honma in recent years.

Based in Japan, the company is known for making some of the finest clubs in the game. Their clubs are currently in the bags of some of the world’s best players, like Hall of Famer Ernie Els.

I recently had the chance to try out their Beres Nx driver. As I expected, this premium driver is packed with technology that makes it one of what must be the best drivers of 2023.

Key Features

Nx Drive Technology enhances initial speed for greater distance.

Lightweight carbon crown allows weight to be distributed to other, more efficient areas of the club.

Booster slot maximizes transfer of energy at impact to increase initial launch for longer carry distance.

Design and Technology

There’s so much going on with the Honma Beres Nx driver, it’s tough to pick a place to start this discussion.

What immediately jumps off the page is Nx Drive Technology. Unique to the Honma brand, this technology radically increases initial ball speed. This stabilizes trajectory and increases overall distance.

The Beres Nx is one of the most balanced drivers on the market. That’s due to the solid cross carbon crown. Its lightweight design allows mass to be redistributed to other areas of the club where it can be used more efficiently. The result is a decrease in the amount of power lost at impact and more stability in the clubface.

The Booster Slot on the club’s sole has been expertly designed to increase the transfer of energy from the club to the ball at impact. This increases both launch angle and ball speed, the combination of factors needed to achieve maximum distance.

X-Lib Technology and radial face design increase the rigidity of the clubface’s outer edges to increase both stability and the trampoline effect that happens when the ball is hit at impact. You guessed it, the result is more distance and increased forgiveness.

The L-Cup design of the clubface eliminates the welding of any parts. This increases the repulsion area across the entire face for faster ball speed.

Unique to the Beres Nx is non-rotational angle adjustment. In short, you can adjust the angle of the clubface (draw or fade bias) without having to rotate the shaft. This results in more consistent ball flight.

No driver is complete without the proper shaft. The Beres Nx Vizard is one of the best in the game. It’s most flexible in the middle while being optimized in both the tip and butt sections. Once you find the right flex, your spin will be optimized for both accuracy and distance.

Honma Beres Nx Driver Review

Honma is a brand that hasn’t been around all that long. But one thing is clear, they’re here to stay. The Beres Nx driver is just the latest premium club they’ve introduced and it’s not hard to see why it’s been met with such critical acclaim.

From a tech and design perspective, it’s a step ahead of the competition. If you don’t mind spending a pretty penny on a driver that’s sure to change your game for the better, give the Honma Beres Nx a try. You won’t be disappointed.

PROS

  • Beres Nx Vizard shaft is engineered to deliver the very best in both distance and stability.
  • Nx Technology increases stability while increasing ball speed at the same time.
  • X-Lib Technology makes the entire face more rigid for added forgiveness and optimal performance, even on mishits.

CONS

    • Price point is higher than other premium drivers.
    • Lack of loft options may be a deterrent for some golfers.
    • Availability can be an issue based on production schedule and current demand.

Our Experience

When I hit the Beres Nx for the first time, it became clear to me why Honma clubs are so much more expensive than their competitors. The features this club has to offer really do make a difference.

Not only was I able to hit this driver farther than my current one, but my shot dispersion was also a lot tighter. Even the shots I hit out of the heel and toe were in play.

I don’t know if I can afford this club’s $750 price tag, but one thing is certain, it more than meets expectations.
