Alright, guys. If you’re a golfer who’s into smart design, next-level features, and gear that not everybody else owns… the MNML MR2 is going to stop you in your tracks. This thing is absolutely loaded.

Because this isn’t just a golf bag.

It’s got magnetic pockets.

A solar-powered phone charger.

A built-in speaker.

A pocket where you can position your phone to film your golf swing (seriously).

And… the whole thing is made from recycled materials.

I mean, this MNML MR2 bag is possibly the most tech-loaded golf bag on the market. Every single detail has been thought out with incredible care. It’s true craftsmanship. MNML even includes the option to have your golf bag hand-painted. I mean, the attention to detail with this company is just insane!

So in this video, we’re taking a close look at what makes MNML’s new golf bag, the MR2, one of the most feature-packed bags out there. We’ll cover the big upgrades from the MR1, all the details MNML absolutely nailed, and maybe even a few things I’d still like to see improved.

If you’re looking for a golf bag that’s got more technology than any other bag, that includes hand-crafted attention to detail, that’s made from recycled material, and that is different from the bags that everyone else at your home course is using, you’ve got to watch this video. This bag is going to freak you out!

What Even Is the MNML MR2?

Let’s start here: MNML is a small brand based out of Redondo Beach, California. They’re incredibly solid people with really cool philosophies on creating really special products in sustainable ways.

I visited them a couple of years ago, if you want to check out that video , and they couldn’t have been better hosts. Just a really unique, artisan brand that’s into doing things the right way. A super cool story.

The whole place feels more like a cool beachside startup than a traditional golf company. They’ve got a skate ramp, ping pong tables, and even host member events at their Redondo Beach headquarters. It’s golf gear with a different kind of culture behind it.

But the heart of the MNML story is the quality of their products. These guys are incredibly serious about what they do.

The MR2 is their newest release. It follows up the MR1, which already had a lot of fans in the minimalist golf bag space.

But this new model?

It’s a full-on upgrade!

And MNML didn’t just throw a new logo on the old bag and call it a day. They listened to feedback from their customers, tweaked a bunch of stuff, and ended up with what they’re calling their “most advanced design yet.”

Who Is This Bag For?

Before we get into the features and the improvements over the MR1 model, let’s talk about the kind of golfer this MR2 bag is actually for.

If you’re a super traditionalist who loves leather tour bags and wouldn’t dream of listening to music on the course, the MR2 probably isn’t your vibe.

But if you’re the kind of player who appreciates clean design, clever functionality, and a little extra flavor on your gear? Yeah, this bag might be calling your name.

Because here’s the thing: this isn’t just a golf bag. It’s your golf bag. Like, literally, it can be hand-painted with anything you want by MNML’s in-house artist. I don’t know of any other golf brand doing anything like that.

It’s fully customizable in a way that no other golf bag really is. And for people who are tired of walking around with the same bag as everyone else from the big brands, that’s a big deal.

The Look and Feel of the MNML MR2

Let’s get this out of the way: the MR2 looks awesome!

It’s sleek. Clean. Not over-designed or covered in logos. The whole vibe is minimalist with just the right amount of edge.

It comes in black or white, both of which look sharp. And unlike most bags that are made out of generic nylon or canvas, this one’s made from 100 percent GRS-certified recycled ripstop material. In plain English, that means it’s made from recycled plastic bottles, and it’s still fully waterproof and super durable.

It’s also surprisingly light. Just 5.5 pounds.

So, even before we get into any of the tech or bells and whistles, this thing already stands out just by how well it nails the basics.

What Makes the MR2 Actually Different?

Alright, let’s talk features. This is where the MR2 starts to separate itself from the pack in a big way. With the MR2, MNML refined and enhanced its most popular features (things like the magnetic pockets, solar panel, and filming pocket), but then they made the bag even better by improving things like durability, weight distribution, comfort, and a better stand mechanism.

Let’s run through just a handful of the features that make this bag so incredible.

MNML MR2 Golf Bag Review

100% Magnetic Pockets

There are no zippers on this bag. None. Every pocket closes magnetically. And once you try it, you’ll wonder why every bag doesn’t do it this way.

It’s faster. Quieter. Just easier. You can get in and out of every pocket with one hand and zero noise.

Seriously, it’s genius.

Solar Power Bank Included

Yes, the MR2 has a built-in solar-powered battery. This is the only bag on the market with that feature.

It’s not meant to fully recharge your devices every round, but if your phone’s on 8 percent and you need it to get through the back nine? This thing will save the day.

It works with both iPhone and Android, and it’s removable, so you can plug it into the wall at home to recharge too.

Bluetooth Speaker Integration

This is an optional add-on for $39. But trust me, it’s worth it.

The MR2’s external tech pocket is designed to perfectly house MNML’s waterproof Bluetooth speaker. It’s compact, rechargeable with 8 to 10 hours of battery life, and it plays loud enough for the golf course. So if you like background music on the course, it’s pretty cool to have a bag with a built-in speaker.

Filming Pocket

Another MNML exclusive. There’s a built-in phone holder on the top of the bag, designed to film your swing hands-free at the range or on the course.

This might sound like a gimmick, but it’s actually awesome. Especially if you’re working on your swing or like to post your golf content.

Just slide your phone in, hit record, and you’re good to go.

Custom Artwork Options

We talked about this earlier, but it’s worth repeating: this is the most customizable golf bag you can buy.

Hand-painted by a real artist, not some stitched-on monogram. And the pricing is surprisingly reasonable, starting at $50 for initials and $100 per hour for custom designs.

You’re not just buying a bag. You’re getting a piece of gear that literally no one else has.

Carrying the MNML MR2

One of the features I think is coolest on the MR2 is how they’ve designed the dual-strap system so that it can quickly convert into a single strap.

As someone who actually likes to walk with a single strap, I find this little hack to be perfect.

The straps are padded with Tour-grade velour, and the overall balance and weight distribution are excellent.

Also, MNML upgraded the stand mechanism to make it even better with the new MR2. They reinforced it for added durability and made the legs replaceable, which is great if you ever run into damage from travel or wear.

There’s also a top handle now, which makes loading and unloading from your car or cart way easier.

Pocket Breakdown

Let’s do a quick lightning round on the pockets. They’re so well-designed and thought-out with this golf bag.

You’ve got:

  • A thermal-lined cooler pocket: It fits six 12-ounce cans or five 16-ounce bottles. And, guys, they even included drainage holes so that you can toss some ice directly into the pocket.
  • The rangefinder pocket: Magnetic closure. Right where you want it.
  • A ball pocket: Large and deep. Holds a ton.
  • The garment pocket: Perfect for extra layers or a rain jacket.
  • The tech pocket: Which includes a built-in phone charger.
  • A slip pocket: Quick stash zone for wallet, glove, or snacks.
  • The rain hood: Hidden inside its own sleeve. Very tidy.
  • Bottom line: There’s a place for everything, and everything is easy to reach.

And, guys, the all-magnetic pocket design is brilliant.

Any Drawbacks?

Alright, this wouldn’t be complete without a few minor nitpicks.

  • First: If you’re someone who needs tons of club separation, the MR2’s 5-way top with three full-length, enclosed dividers might feel a little cramped. If you’re someone who insists on full-length dividers for every club, this might not be your dream setup.
  • Second: the solar charger is a great backup, but don’t expect it to work miracles. If you’re planning to stream music, charge your phone, and keep a rangefinder juiced all in one round, you’re gonna run out of power. Think of it as a safety net, not a full-time generator.

And finally, this bag isn’t cheap. $319 gets you the bag and built-in power bank. Add the Bluetooth speaker and you’re up to $358. That’s definitely not a budget option.

But, honestly, guys, I think this bag is a steal at this price. I mean, to get something that’s this loaded with tech and that is this unique and stylish for less than $400, I think it's a very fair price.

MNML MR2 Golf Bag Review

Is the MNML MR2 Golf Bag Worth It?

Absolutely, while the MNML MR2 Golf Bag is a great product, there are a few pros and cons that you need to be aware of:

Pros:

  • Magnetic Pocket Closures: The bag features 8 magnetic closure pockets that are more durable than traditional zippers, which are the #1 failure point on golf bags. The magnets create a tight seal that's even more air/water tight than regular bags.

  • Eco-Friendly Materials: Made from 100% GRS Certified Recycled Ripstop material, with each bag recycling approximately 40 plastic water bottles, making it an environmentally conscious choice.

  • Innovative Features: Includes a filming pocket specifically designed at an ideal height and position to record your swing, compatible with both iPhone and Android devices.

Cons:

  • Strap System Issues: The straps are extremely wide, which can make it difficult for your arms to hang naturally and may cause the straps to pinch or dig into your body during carrying.

  • Limited Storage When Full: The magnetic pockets, while innovative, can struggle to stay shut when packed too full, and items may fall out if the pockets are overstuffed.

  • Divider Snagging: The plush dividers at the top can snag from time to time, especially if you have oversized or midsize grips on your clubs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main features that set the MNML MR2 Golf Bag apart from other golf bags?

The MNML MR2 Golf Bag stands out due to its magnetic pocket closures (no zippers), solar-powered phone charger, built-in waterproof Bluetooth speaker, filming pocket for swing recording, and use of recycled ripstop material. These features combine convenience, durability, and sustainability in a modern, minimalist design.

How does the magnetic pocket system work, and why is it better than zippers?

The bag uses strong magnets instead of zippers for all pocket closures, providing seamless access and a secure seal. Magnetic closures are more durable than zippers, which are prone to failure, and offer a premium feel with quick, easy open and close functionality.

What technology is integrated into the MR2 bag?

The MR2 includes a solar-powered phone charger compatible with iPhone and Android devices, a waterproof Bluetooth speaker with up to 8 hours of battery life, and a filming pocket positioned for easy swing recording.

Is the MR2 Golf Bag environmentally friendly?

Yes, the MR2 is made from 100% GRS-certified recycled ripstop material, using approximately 40 recycled plastic bottles per bag. This approach reduces environmental impact while maintaining durability and performance.

How much does the MNML MR2 Golf Bag weigh, and is it comfortable to carry?

The MR2 weighs around 5–5.5 lbs, which is standard for carry/stand bags. It features padded straps that can be configured as single or double, though some users note the straps could be more ergonomic for extended carrying.

So… Is the MR2 the Ultimate Tech Golf Bag?

Look, I’m not gonna tell you that this is the best bag for every single golfer.

If you prefer something ultra-basic, there are cheaper, simpler bags that’ll do the trick.

But if you want a golf bag with built-in technology, that’s sustainable, customizable, and just flat-out more interesting than anything else on the rack?

This is the one.

Guys, this is just such a cool golf bag. The MNML MR1 was already awesome. Now the build quality is stepped up a notch, the leg mechanism is better, and what was already a really smart design is even smarter.

The bag looks great. And it gives you a real sense of ownership because of the customization options.

And when you add in the fact that MNML’s doing all of this with 100 percent recycled materials, hand-painted artwork, and a brand culture that feels fresh and different?

Yeah. That’s pretty damn cool.

So here’s the bottom line: the MR2 isn’t trying to be like every other bag. And that’s kind of the whole point.

If you’re into that, you’re gonna love this thing.

Let me know in the comments what’s the feature you’re most curious about? The magnetic pockets? The solar charger? The customization? Or just the overall vibe?
