Premium golf shaft often become associated with high swing speed players and elite golfers. The truth is, any player serious about their game needs to be considering aftermarket golf shafts . The Even Flow line from Project X has become a staple in the golf bags of amateur players at almost every club head speed . The beauty of Even Flow has always been its signature feel and precise feedback.

Players have occasionally had to forgo this experience because the stability of Even Flow shafts have not stood up to other offerings. Thanks to Riptide this may no longer be the case. This review will describe whether the feel of Even Flow with enhanced stability in the Riptide range can become the best of both world for non-professional and professional golfers alike.

Key Features

Project X Even Flow Riptide uses a similar construction to the other Even Flow shafts but has been reinforced in key areas for improved performance and control.

Even Flow Riptide beautifully blends the feel of the Even Flow family with better energy transfer and more stability.

The Even Flow Riptide shaft will fit well with golfers that loved the response of the previous Even Flow shafts but struggled to dial in their exact launch and spin profiles.

Design and Technology

The Even Flow Riptide golf shaft builds upon the efficient energy transfer of the “even” bend profile associated with all the Even Flow shafts. This even bend not only creates a better feel through the entire golf swing but can product more energy at a wider range of driver and fairway wood club head speeds.

Riptide specifically uses ultra-high modulus materials and a reduced resin content creating higher quality and manufacturing tolerances. The introduction of Project X Small Batch line means even more reliability between each shaft so players and club fitters know exactly what the shaft will do time after time.

Project X Even Flow Riptide

From its performance to its design features, the Project X EvenFlow Riptide CB shaft is all about optimizing stability and control. And let me tell you, it delivers on that promise.

With every swing, you’ll experience a smooth feel and a consistent trajectory that will take your game to new heights. But what really sets this shaft apart is its ability to reduce spin and maximize energy transfer.

That means you’ll see a noticeable improvement in your shot dispersion and added distance off the tee.

PROS

  • Even Flow Riptide maintains the “even” bend profile that players love with explosive distances and more control through impact.
  • The Riptide shaft is available through Project X’s Small Batch platform that ensures higher product tolerances and less variability shaft-to-shaft.
  • The versatility of Even Flow Riptide shaft will appeal to a wide range of golfers and almost all club heads speeds.

CONS

  • The Small Batch Even Flow Riptide golf shaft will only be available in advanced fitting locations and may be difficult to demo or test.
  • The cost of aftermarket premium golf shafts like the Riptide offer more performance for most golfers but will still be difficult for budget conscious golfers.
  • Players with aggressive tempos may favor a profile with a stiffer tip design in drivers when coming from the tee box.

Our Experience

Like many players that have been fit for their golf clubs, I always fall in love with smooth feeling golf shafts. The Even Flow series always delivers a product that is outstanding to swing, but for me, has not yet delivered the performance necessary to make it into my  golf bag . The Even Flow Riptide immediately changed that, once installed I watched my backspin reduce, launch level out perfectly into MY window, and ball speeds jumped.

Having tried both the Even Flow Black and Even Flow T1100 shaft the Riptide already had my attention. I think what Project X was trying to do with the Even Flow T1100 they mastered with the Even Flow Riptide. More stability through the entire golf swing and at impact without sacrificing any of the feel that can be created by the “even” bend design. With this newest design, I think many golfers, but especially higher swing speed players, can be comfortably fit into an Even Flow product that delivers exceptional feel coupled with their ideal club head and golf ball performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

When using this shaft, specific adjustments may be needed for the club head. Shaft customization is essential for optimal performance. Also, it’s crucial to ensure compatibility with different driver models for a perfect fit.

Can Customers Request a Different Grip to Be Installed on the Shaft Before Shipment?

I’d love to switch out the grip before the club ships, but unfortunately, it’s not an option. This shaft is specifically designed for the 2014 Mizuno JPX EZ Driver, so it’s important to ensure compatibility.

Conclusion

Project X realized they had a winner once the Even Flow’s even bend profile produced so many great responses in the hands of golfers. If there was an issue previously with Even Flow not filling the performance category for some, Riptide will fit nicely in addressing those gaps. The Even Flow Riptide golf shaft is a well-balanced golf shaft designed with feel in mind with performance as a monumental bonus.
