In recent memory, it is difficult to find a shaft line that has had more global success than the HZRDUS series from Project X and True Temper. HZRDUS Smoke shafts are now available in Black, Yellow, and the all-new Hulk Green. The HZRDUS Smoke Green, or Hulk, shaft is named for its incredible stability and low launch, low spin profile.

Available in a breathtaking PVD finish, the HZRDUS Smoke is one of the most complete golf shafts for aggressive swingers. Already into the golf bags of Cameron Champ (one of the fastest swings on tour) and Henrik Stenson, the Hulk shaft is proven to work under the most intense moments.

Key Features

The HZRDUS Smoke Green is the stiffest HZRDUS shaft ever built and well suited for aggressive tempo golfers.

Hexcel’s HexTow HM63 fibers help increase stability at impact to keep up with the fastest swingers in the world without overloading the golfer’s swing.

The HZRDUS Smoke Green is available in either the classic Smoke Grey or Gamma PVD finish and is the second golf shaft manufactured using Project X’s Small Batch platform for better quality control.

Design and Technology

The HZRDUS Smoke Green features an advanced material design that helps make it extremely stable at elevated club head speeds. Hexcel’s HexTow HM62 fibers is incorporated into the Hulk shaft to reinforce its bending profile and allow it to withstand forces applied by high swing speed golfers. The butt, mid, and tip sections of the Hulk shaft have all been perfectly balanced to deliver a golf club shaft that is more efficient at high club head speeds and diverse enough to match to many different driver and fairway club head styles.

Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green PVD Driver Shafts offer the latest engineering marvel in the HZRDUS Universe.

Being the stiffest HZRDUS shaft yet, Smoke Green is designed to reduce spin for the strongest swingers and is the first major shaft introduced using Hexcel’s HexTow HM63 fiber.

This allows Smoke Green to maintain maximum stability and keep up with even the fastest swings.

PROS

  • The HZRDUS Smoke Green shaft is renowned for its ultra-stable profile, making it ideal for golfers with high swing speeds who need a shaft that can handle aggressive swings without losing control.
  • It delivers on its promise of low launch angles and minimal spin, making it perfect for players who need to combat windy conditions or fast fairways.
  • The shaft is highly accurate, providing consistent results and allowing golfers to predict their shots with confidence.

CONS

  • The HZRDUS Smoke Green is extremely stiff, which may make it unsuitable for golfers with slower swing speeds or those who prefer a more flexible shaft.
  • The shaft is designed for the strongest golfers, and its stiffness can make it difficult for less powerful players to achieve optimal performance.
  • It is tailored for a specific player profile, namely those with high swing speeds and aggressive swings, which limits its appeal to a broader range of golfers.

Our Experience

As a player that has played Project X shafts in my irons for many years, I expect nothing but excellent performance from all of their products. The only complaint I have ever had with the Project X line is the feel and “boardyness” that can sometimes be associated with their stiffest products. As soon as I got past the breathtaking looks of the Hulk shaft, I could tell there was something different here. I hit the Hulk in both driver and fairway wood lines and without a doubt I believe this to be one of Project X’s greatest feats thus far.

The HZRDUS Smoke Green is likely the most stable golf shaft I have ever swung. Even stronger than the popular HZRDUS T1100 shaft that so many fell in love with. The hidden brilliance of the Smoke Green shaft however is how explosive it feels during the transition into impact. I expected to be swinging a shaft that was built purely for distance and took my clubs a half to full club further, but that may be difficult to work or to dial back when I had to hit a fairway – not at all. The Hulk is surprisingly responsive, and I found myself able to hit my drivers and fairway offerings both ways on command without worrying the shaft was not going to keep up. There is no doubt that this golf shaft is getting the maximum amount of performance at top speeds, but its versatility should not be overlooked.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the key features of the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green "Hulk" shaft?

The Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green "Hulk" shaft is designed to handle the fastest, most aggressive swings. It produces low, penetrating drives and is very accurate. Key features include a low-spin, low-launch profile, a stiff and stable feel, and a bold green Gamma PVD finish.

How does the HZRDUS Smoke Green compare to the previous HZRDUS Black shaft?

The HZRDUS Smoke Green takes the stability and stiffness of the HZRDUS Black up a notch. While the Black was already very stable, the Smoke Green is described as "simply not impressed with your puny swing." It has an even more solid, immovable feel that resists bending or kicking, even with the most aggressive swings.

What flexes and weights are available for the HZRDUS Smoke Green?

The HZRDUS Smoke Green is available in 60 and 70 gram weight classes, with 6.0 (stiff), 6.5 (extra stiff), and 6.5TX (tour extra stiff) flexes. The 6.5TX version is the stiffest in the lineup.

How does the HZRDUS Smoke Green compare to the Diamana D+ shaft?

One commenter asked how the HZRDUS Smoke Green 70g version compares to the Diamana D+ 70g shaft, as they were considering installing the Hulk shaft with an adapter. However, the search results do not provide a direct comparison between these two shafts.

What is the "Small Batch" manufacturing platform used for the HZRDUS Smoke Green?

The "Small Batch" manufacturing platform is a new production approach introduced by Project X for their golf shafts. The HZRDUS Smoke Green is the second shaft manufactured under this platform. While the specific details of the "Small Batch" process are not explicitly described in the available information, it suggests a more limited or specialized production run compared to standard manufacturing methods. This approach likely allows for greater quality control and potentially the use of advanced materials or techniques, such as the incorporation of Hexcel's HexTow HM63 fiber in the case of the HZRDUS Smoke Green shaft.

Conclusion

The hallmark of the Project X brand is performance. Performance sometimes can create a sensation that golfers object to especially if their shaft isn’t perfectly fit. The new HZRDUS Smoke line from PX has retained the performance players expect with an improved loading feel. The HZRDUS Smoke Green is a golf shaft tailored to the fastest and most aggressive swingers in golf, but I believe it will fit golfers of many styles that prefer enhanced stability especially at impact. The surprising feel of the Hulk shaft is a testament to the engineering prowess of Project X and True Temper, and many will be shocked with how easy it is to swing and how it can improve their game. Ultimately, the Hulk shaft will demand attention form serious golfers of many types and they will come for the look but stay for the explosive distance and enhanced control.
