Here at Golfer’s Authority, it’s hard for us to keep up with all the equipment TaylorMade churns out. With that being said, we’ve yet to come across much we aren’t impressed with. That’s especially true when it comes to distance and game improvement irons.
And while there have been plenty of iterations in the last year or two, we’d be remiss if we didn’t talk about the M6 irons which were introduced in 2019.
Even today, these irons are some of the hottest, most forgiving clubs in the game.
Key Features
Speed Bridge and Speed Pocket work in conjunction to increase face flexion for explosive ball speeds.
HYBRAR compression filter dampens sounds and improves feel.
Inverted Core Technology maximizes sweet spot surface area for greater MOI and maximum forgiveness.

Design and Technology
TaylorMade has always been at the forefront of technology in all their clubs. The M6 irons are no different.
To start, Thru-Slot technology allows the club’s face to be connected to the body via the top line. This is made possible by the Speed Bridge. It takes weight out of the face and allows it to flex more when it makes contact with the ball at impact.
A proprietary BYBRAR dampening bar reduces both vibration and sound when the ball comes off the face. Those mishits that used to shoot up your arms on cold mornings won’t any more thanks to this technology.
Inverted Cone Technology allows the sweet spot to be expanded further across the face, especially toward the toe. As a result, solid shots feel great, but mishits aren’t as exaggerated as they would be with a normal size sweet spot.
Lastly, the fluted hosel and 360-degree undercut cavity lower the CG. This optimizes conditions for high launches with all clubs.

Our Experience
I can never wait to get my hands on anything TaylorMade comes out with. It was no different with the M6 irons.
From the moment I made my first swings, I could tell these were some of the longest, most forgiving irons I’d ever hit.
Even though the heads were quite a bit bigger than what I was used to, they didn’t look off-putting behind the ball. In fact, they inspired confidence.
I was a full club longer throughout the bag with the M6 irons too. Clearly the technology TaylorMade so aggressively touted was up to snuff.
The only drawback with these irons was their seeming lack of workability. I found it tough to control trajectory and shape shots.
Other than that, these irons were a game changer.

Is the TaylorMade M6 Iron Worth It?
Absolutely, while the TaylorMade M6 Iron is a great product, there are a few pros and cons that you need to be aware of:
Pros:
Exceptional Distance: The M6 irons are designed for maximum ball speed and distance, making them one of the longest irons available.
High Forgiveness: Features like the cavity-back design and Speed Bridge technology ensure consistent performance on off-center hits.
High Launch: Optimized center of gravity provides a high launch angle, making it easier to achieve towering shots.
Cons:
Reduced Spin Control: Stronger lofts and lower spin can make it harder to control stopping power on greens.
Durability Issues: The clubface is prone to scratches and dings, which may affect its aesthetic appeal over time.
Limited Workability: Shaping shots or controlling trajectory is challenging due to the focus on forgiveness and distance.

If you’re looking for more length and forgiveness with your irons, give the M6 irons a shot. Even more, if you decide to purchase a set of your own, they won’t break the bank.
