In our last review, I told you we were back at it with Vessel. I wasn’t lying. This time we’re checking out the Player III Stand Bag.

New for 2021, the Player III Stand Bag is the best of the best. Made of the finest materials, highly functional, and complete with all the necessary amenities you could want, this bag is here to stay.

I recently took the Player III Stand Bag for a test drive. As seems to be the case with every Vessel bag I’ve ever tried, my expectations were exceeded.

Key Features

Two different divider systems allow you to choose the design that best suits your needs. Options are 6-way and 14-way dividers.

The back panel is compression molded for added comfort and protection.

Patented Rotator Base provides increased stability on uneven ground when you set the bag down.

Design and Technology

There’s no shortage of cool features that set the Vessel Player III Stand Bag apart. Let’s dig in. Two different divider options in the same bag give you a choice about how you want to organize your clubs. Dividers go all the way to the bottom of the bag to keep shafts from tangling. The top is larger than previous models and was designed with driver placement and putter hang in mind. The handles are wrapped in leather allowing for a comfortable grip when you pick the bag up.

The accessories pocket is lined with soft microfiber. It’s also magnetic. The vertical handle makes opening and closing this pocket easier than it was before. Vessel knows how important it is to keep your valuables like watches, phones, and wallets protected during your round. That’s why they included a microfiber lined pocket with a combination lock. No one’s going to sneak in and steal anything. In addition to the sizable garment pocket, the Player III Stand Bag has gusseted side pockets that are perfect for storing yardage books or other small items.

The EQ2 strap self-adjusts via a four-point swivel. Changing between the double and single straps is a piece of cake thanks to a simple clip system. The bag’s patented Rotator Base is wider on this bag than older versions. It provides even more stability, especially on slopes or slippery ground. Two water bottle pockets are lined with stretch mesh to keep cold beverages from falling out.

See what I mean by more cool features than other carry bags?

PROS

    • Number of features is astounding. There’s nothing this bag doesn’t have.
    • Both bags are much lighter than other, similar bags. You hardly know they’re on your back.
    • These bags have more than enough storage considering their size.

CONS

  • High price point may be a deterrent for some golfers.
  • For players that like to ride in carts, these bags may not be the best option.
  • Because of such high demand, Vessel runs out of stock from time to time.

Our Experience

My experience with the Vessel Player III Stand Bag has been nothing short of amazing. While I’ve sampled other stand bags, I’ve made the Player III my go-to. Like everything Vessel makes, this bag is well thought out in terms of construction, design, and features. It’s light as a feather too. Even though previous models of the Player Stand Bag have been impressive, the improvements in this latest model are noticeable.

I was particularly impressed with the added stability of the Rotator Base. No matter where I set this bag down, I know it’s not going to tip over. Whenever I try new equipment, I look closely at the minor details. Everything is done to perfection on this bag. From the stitching to the placement of the hinges for the EQ2 strap, everything makes perfect sense. Until I come across something better (which I doubt I will), the Player III will be my regular bag.
