The Cobra Fly Z Driver offers is one of the most forgiving drivers currently on the market today, yet it somehow doesn’t sacrifice distance. With slight tweaks to the weight distribution, the Cobra Fly Z Driver take up where the Cobra Bio Cell Driver left off. Since it was first released in early 2015, the Cobra Fly Z Driver has not only received the highest rating of Gold in the 2015 Golf Digest Hot list, but it has also become one of the most recognized clubs used on the tour.

When promoting the Fly Z Driver, Cobra used the hashtag #FlipitRipit. This is because the Fly Z is Cobra’s first adjustable weight driver that allows a player to customize the club to make it have either a “low back center of gravity” for a more forgiving driver, or a “forward center of gravity” to make it a lower spin driver. All a player needs to do is flip the weight from one setting to the next, depending on what the player prefers. Cobra even offers a variety of weight options including the 4 gram, 6 gram, 8 gram, 12 gram and 16 gram to allow players to fine tune the club. The Cobra Fly Z Driver is an outstanding club that is aimed for the low to mid handicap player who enjoys tinkering, and who is looking for maximum distance with lots of forgiveness in their driver.

Key Features

The Cobra Fly Z Driver has been engineered to provide the ultimate combination of increased forgiveness and maximum distance. This is brought about by its Center of Gravity and Zone Weighting system and a Speed Channel Face. It’s low and back Center of Gravity Zone Weighting system is designed to provide mid to high launch, fast ball speeds, and low spin. While it Speed Channel Face, first introduced in 2015 of all Cobra metal woods and irons, has compression channels that allow for the club face to flex increasing forgiveness and ball speed regardless of where the players strike the ball.

The Cobra Fly Z Driver E9 Zone Face Structure, which has been incorporated into multiple Cobra Golf Drivers, and Crown Zone Weighting combine to deliver a large amount of discretionary weight. The weight saved is strategically positioned low and back in the club head, where the back-zone weight is located.

The Cobra Fly Z Driver also incorporates the MyFly8 technology that allows players to choose from 8 simple adjustable loft and trajectory settings that range between 9 degrees to 12 degrees. This allows players to maximize their distance and manage their trajectory.

Design and Technology

The Cobra Fly Z Driver is an impressive club that incorporates the very best in technology and design and has been built to deliver the ultimate combination of maximum distance and increased forgiveness. The Cobra Fly Z Driver sports a Speed Channel Face, which has now become standard on all Cobra metal woods and drivers. The Speed Channel Face is designed to redistribute weight across the entire face into 9 zones. These 9 zones are where golfers typically hit the ball on the club face on their drives. This redistribution of the weight allows for an overall thinner club face, and increases the sweet spot of the club. This design helps to increase ball speed and provide for more forgiveness on mis-hits.

The Cobra Fly Z Driver also incorporates Cobra Golf’s My Fly8 technology. This allows for 8 different loft and trajectory settings that help players maximize their distance and manage their ball flight. The 8 simple adjustable loft and trajectory settings range from 9 degrees to 12 degrees. The Cobra Fly Z Driver also has an all-new Center of Gravity and Zone Weighting system. This “Flip Zone” weighting technology allows players to enhance their performance with an adjustable weight. All a player has to do is flip the weight to make it either a “low back center of gravity” for a more forgiving driver, or a “forward center of gravity” to make it a lower spin driver.

  • A solid performing club that will turn a lot of heads

Our Experience

The Cobra Fly-Z driver offers a significant improvement over its predecessor, the BiO CELL driver. The Fly-Z driver stands out with its enhanced looks, feel, and smoother swing. The 460cc club head, while substantial, appears less bulky due to its contoured shape, making it visually appealing and confidence-inspiring at address.

The Speed Channel technology around the face contributes to a thinner face, resulting in a more responsive and forgiving club. The sound is a noticeable metallic ping, which some may find louder than the muted tone of the BiO CELL, but it is not overly harsh. Performance-wise, the Fly-Z driver excels in providing easy distance and forgiveness, thanks to the strategically placed weight low and back on the sole, promoting higher launch angles and greater stability.

Overall, the Cobra Fly-Z driver is a versatile and forgiving club that caters to a wide range of golfers, offering both improved distance and ease of play.
