Golfers often overlook their  grips  of choice. Most often, a player buys a club and will be happy to play whatever grip comes stock with their new stick. This oversight can often lead to gaps in performance and inconsistent play. Look around the  bags  of professional players at any level and you will quickly notice that each of their  clubs , excluding their  putter , not only have the same grip but this  grip  will be an advanced club grip with a unique playing characteristic.

Lamkin Grips offers a diver range of products that offer players comfort and texture options to meet the demands of recreational and competitive golf. This is most highlighted in their newest Sonar range of golf grips and this review will take you through each of these models.

Key Features

The Standard Sonar golf grip combines Fingerprint Technology, Genesis material and as upper-tacky surface to give players more comfort and less tension.

The Sonar Wrap golf grip features a soft exterior for all-weather tackiness and a luxurious soft feel.

The Sonar Tour is a tour-level golf grip with enhanced micro-texture, Fingerprint Technology, and a traditional taper. The Sonar Tour is also built to fit clubs in a logo-down orientation perfect for golfers that prefer a clean look at address.

Design and Technology

The Sonar family of golf grips have been designed to fit a wide net of golfers utilizing advanced materials and precisely placed texture. The Standard Sonar, Sonar Wrap, and Sonar Tour each feature unique components to suit golfers of different playing profiles.

1. Standard Sonar Golf Grips

Golfers that want versatile performance with enjoy the feel and tackiness of the Standard Sonar Golf Grip.

2. Sonar Wrap Golf Grips

Golfers that prefer the softest feeling grip and the most protection for their hands will love the Sonar Wrap golf grip.

3. Sonar Tour Golf Grips

The Sonar Tour golf grip has been optimized for play in all weather conditions and to hold up under the most intense pressures for the serious player.

Lamkin Sonar Golf Grip

The Lamkin Sonar Grips have quickly become a favorite among golfers everywhere, and for good reason. With their reduced-taper profile and high-traction design, these grips offer exceptional performance and durability.

But what really sets them apart is their ability to provide an improved feel. By using Lamkin’s Fingerprint Technology, these grips allow for a lighter grip pressure and enhanced feedback.

You’ll be able to feel every swing, every shot, and make adjustments with ease.

PROS

  • Diverse performance and comfort options of the Sonar family makes it uniquely tuned to a wide range of golfer abilities and feel preferences.
  • Fingerprint Technology and Genesis material content make each grip perform well in a variety of weathers and hand sizes of both men and women players.
  • The taper patterns within the family allow golfers to find their ideal fit and help themselves swing with less effort and more power.

CONS

  • Each grip in the Sonar line is accented with blue colors and may not be preferred by players that want a traditional address appearance.
  • Both the Standard Sonar and Sonar Wrap saw diminished performance during wet conditions compared with more firm textures.
  • The offering of the PLUS taper design may not be suited to players that have a defined built pattern for their grips.

Our Experience

Of the three Sonar offerings, I prefer the Sonar Tour. The logo down orientation is something I have always preferred in golf grips and the clean look and enhanced texture are fantastic. The Sonar Wrap and Standard are excellent options but did not hold up as well during wet-dry testing. I found these grips to be best when playing in comfortable conditions and during recreational rounds. The Sonar Tour shielded my hands from slickness in a variety of conditions and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone that needs to play their best no matter what the weather is like.

Each grip within the Sonar line has unique advantages. The Wrap is unmistakably one of the softest golf grips I have ever played. It was a pleasure to test and anyone looking for hand relief during play should absolutely consider this option. The Standard Sonar is unique with its gentle reminder of where to place your hands and is ideal for  beginner  or  high-handicap golfers  that can use a nudge in the right direction when their rounds de-rail.
