In looking back at all the club reviews I’ve written over the years, it’s more than clear that I’ve reviewed a lot of TaylorMade drivers. But it’s been with good reason. They’ve continuously produced some of the best performing drivers in the game.
The all-new Qi10 series is no different. I’m especially fond of the Qi10 Max. So is Nelly Korda, who has won five tournaments in a row on the LPGA Tour with the Qi10 Max in her bag.
There isn’t any one particular feature or benefit I love about this driver. Rather, it’s the combination of unparalleled distance and incredible forgiveness.
So, without further ado, let’s dive in for a closer look at what I consider to be one of the best drivers on the market in 2024.
Table of Contents
Key Features
10K inertia gives golfers maximum forgiveness across the entire clubface.
Shallow clubface and longer front-to-back head profile increase forgiveness by moving mass farther away from the clubface.
Lightweight Infinity Crown allows weight to be redistributed to other areas of the clubhead where it’s used more efficiently.
Design and Technology
As we’ve come to expect from TaylorMade, the Qi10 Max driver is packed full of design and tech features.
What jumps right off the page with this driver is its shallow, yet extended head design. While its actual size is 4600cc (the USGA legal limit), it looks larger than other drivers. So, what does that mean? Well, a couple of things. Visually, the larger profile head inspires a lot of confidence when you set it down behind the ball. Secondly, the lengthier front-to-back dimensions allow weight to be moved away from the clubface. In turn, this maximizes MOI and forgiveness.
Next on the list is the lightweight Infinity Crown that covers 97% of the club’s top. This design feature also increases MOI by allowing mass to be moved toward the club’s perimeter.
The distance part of the equation comes from TaylorMade’s patented 60X Carbon Twist Face. Much lighter than the titanium used in other drivers, the material in the Qi10 Max reduces clubface weight and maximizes the transfer of energy between the clubface and ball at impact. This results in faster ball speeds and increased distance.
The TaylorMade Qi10 Max doesn’t just boast cutting-edge technology. The proof is in the pudding with its consistent overall performance.
TaylorMade Qi10 Max Driver
Because the Qi10 Max driver is so forgiving, it stands to benefit golfers of all abilities. It’s proven hugely popular for weekend warriors and the best players in the world.
I know I could use all the forgiveness I can get with my driver. And I don’t know a single golfer that doesn’t want to hit the ball farther off the tee. So, I don’t see any type of golfer the TaylorMade Qi10 Max isn’t right for.
PROS
- 60X Carbon Twist Face is super lightweight and promotes explosive ball speeds.
- Lengthened front-to-back clubhead profile insights confidence and maximizes forgiveness.
- Lightweight Infinity Carbon Crown increases forgiveness and stability.
CONS
- May not be the best driver for elite players that like the look of a compact clubhead profile.
- Price point is higher than other drivers in 2024.
- Availability may vary depending on your location and product availability.
Our Experience
Out of all the drivers I tested in 2024, some were better than others. The TaylorMade Qi10 Max was certainly one of the better ones.
Not only was this driver arguably the most forgiving out of any I tested, it was also one of the longest. While a lot of drivers give you the benefit of one or the other, it’s a special golf club that gives you the best of both worlds.
I also really liked the seemingly larger clubhead profile. Setting the Qi10 Max behind the ball at address gave me a ton of confidence.
All in all, it’s easy to see why the TaylorMade Qi10 has been so popular with golfers of all abilities.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the TaylorMade Qi10 Max Driver different from other drivers?
The Qi10 Max Driver stands out due to its 10K MOI (Moment of Inertia), which provides exceptional forgiveness by reducing twisting on off-center hits. This results in more stable and straighter shots, even on mishits, making it the most forgiving driver in TaylorMade's history.
Who is the Qi10 Max Driver best suited for?
The Qi10 Max Driver is ideal for mid to high handicappers prioritizing forgiveness and consistency over distance. Its large head and high MOI make it easier to hit fairways, especially for players who struggle with off-center strikes.
How does the Infinity Carbon Crown improve performance?
The Infinity Carbon Crown covers 97% of the club's crown, allowing for strategic mass redistribution. This lowers the center of gravity (CG), increasing launch and spin control while maintaining high forgiveness.
Does the Qi10 Max sacrifice distance for forgiveness?
While the Qi10 Max prioritizes forgiveness, it may offer slightly less distance compared to other models in the Qi10 range, such as the standard version or LS model. This is due to its back-weighted design and higher launch profile.
Can I adjust the loft or bias on the Qi10 Max Driver?
Yes, the Qi10 Max Driver features an adjustable loft sleeve, allowing golfers to fine-tune their launch conditions. While it is not explicitly draw-biased, its design may naturally help reduce slices for some players.
Conclusion
It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that the new Qi10 line of drivers from TaylorMade has received such rave reviews so far in 2024.
Of all three models, however, it’s the Qi10 Max that’s proven most popular. The combination of distance and forgiveness the Qi10 offers is unbelievable.
If you’re on the search for a driver that’s virtually guaranteed to improve your total performance from the tee, be sure to check out the TaylorMade Qi10 Max.
