Since I started playing golf as a little kid, Titleist has had a reputation as a ‘good player’s’ brand. It’s true, their clubs have been used by some of the most elite golfers in the world to capture major championships and set all sorts of records.

While that reputation is still largely intact, the company has started producing high-quality clubs that are designed for golfers of all abilities.

In 2024, it’s TSR2 driver that’s catching the attention of recreational golfers and mid to high-handicappers.

This driver packs a potent punch of forgiveness and distance that has it ranking as one of the most popular this year.

Let’s have a closer look.

Key Features

Multi-plateau variable thickness clubface produces consistent spin rates and ball speed across the entire surface.

CG centered low and forward in the clubhead increases ball speed, reduces spin, and improves launch.

Slimmed down, cleaner clubhead profile is more aerodynamically efficient than previous models.

Design and Technology

Even though there isn’t anything too radically new in terms of Titleist technology with the TSR2 driver, it boasts a number of improvements compared to previous models.

The first feature that caught my eye with this driver was the multi-plateau variable thickness face design. In construction, the aerospace grade titanium clubface is built inward, layer by layer. This allows golfers to realize forgiveness and consistency not only on solid shots, but mishits too.

The TSR2’s aerodynamic redesign is also worth discussing. Compared to previous iterations, 2024’s TSR2 features a slimmed down profile that reduces drag throughout the entire swing. What does that mean for you? Increased clubhead speed, especially at impact. In turn, you get more distance.

The CG has been shifted lower and forward in the clubhead. This not only increases ball speed, but improves launch conditions while minimizing spin too. As we know, maximum launch angle with minimal spin is the recipe for distance.

Lastly, this year’s TSR2 is one of the most adjustable drivers Titleist has ever made. Thanks to the SureFit adjustability system, you can easily and quickly tweak the driver to fit your swing and optimize your ball flight.

Again, Titleist didn’t release anything ground-breaking with the TSR2. Rather, they took what has already been proven to work and made it better.

Titleist TSR2 Driver

If there’s a brand that commands more customer loyalty than Titleist, I’ve never heard of it. That’s to say that if you’ve long been a fan of Titleist drivers and their classic shape, you’re going to love the TSR2.

But even if you’re not a lifelong Titleist subscriber, and don’t hit every one of your drives out of the center of the clubface, the benefits the TSR2 offers are untold. In short, the TSR2 stands to improve driving for just about everybody.

PROS

  • Trimmed down clubhead profile reduces drag and increases swing speed.
  • Multi-plateau variable thickness clubface provides excellent forgiveness.
  • Plenty more stock shaft options than other drivers on the market.

CONS

  • Price point is higher than other drivers.
  • May not be the best choice for elite players looking for control and playability.
  • Order and shipping times could vary based on demand.

Our Experience

I’ve always been a fan of Titleist drivers. I love their classic shape and the way they sit behind the ball. However, at times I’ve felt some of them are a little too advanced for my game.

That couldn’t be further from the truth with the all-new TSR2. Not only was it one of the hottest Titleist drivers I’ve ever hit, it was also one of the most forgiving. In testing, I hit plenty of shots off the heel and toe and didn’t notice a dramatic loss in distance.

I also noticed a significant increase in my swing speed. That’s likely thanks to the trimmed down profile of this year’s TSR2.

I have no hesitation giving the Titleist TSR2 my full endorsement.
