If you’re like me, you don’t get the chance to play golf whenever you want. For me, with a wife, kids, work, and our site, golf is something that has to be scheduled in advance.

As such, I’m stuck with whatever the weather brings that day. While it’s usually sunny and beautiful in Phoenix, that’s not always the case. And I travel too. That means I inevitably end up  playing golf in the rain  at some point. You probably do too.

That’s why it’s so important to have the appropriate rain gear. Without it, you don’t have much of a chance. You’re going to get wet. Your equipment’s going to get wet. You’re going to be miserable.

I’ve tried all kinds of different rain gear over the years. Some performs better than others, but a brand I’ve come to trust is Galway Bay.

Key Features

Exceptional breathability and flexibility thanks to three-layer construction.

Hydro-Flex 32 material is waterproof in any conditions.

Ample sizes mean there’s something to fit everybody.

Design and Technology

Glaway Bay makes some of the finest rain jackets and pants in the game. Their outerwear pieces are trusted by the biggest names on Tours around the world.

 All-Weather Rain Jackets

Over the years, Glaway Bay has made it a habit of finding what’s wrong with run-of-the-mill rain gear and set about fixing it. That’s exemplified by their All-Weather Rain Jackets.

The story starts with Hyrdo-Flex 32 fabric that eliminates bulk and is engineered to be some of the most waterproof in the industry.

Most rain jackets have a collar that’s designed to keep water from dripping down your neck. While this is a must, most outerwear companies don’t realize that the collar constantly rubs against your chin in the front.

The collars on Galway Bay Jackets taper down to just 1.25” in this spot. This is just one example of how the company sets itself apart.

No detail is overlooked: The zippers and seams are well-built and waterproof. The material is quiet and soft.

 Rain Pants

Galway Bay’s rain pants employ the same Hydro-Flex 32 fabric as their jackets. Again, this is some of the most high-tech, comfortable waterproof fabric on the market.

You can choose from pants  that are either lined or unlined.

The lined pants work great in cold weather. Temperature-regulating material keeps your warm down to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. But the liner is also lightweight enough that you won’t overheat, and your movement won’t be restricted.

If cold weather isn’t much of a concern, the unlined pants will keep you just as dry and comfortable.

Galway Bay Golf Rain Gear

The Galway Bay Golf All-Weather Long Sleeve Jacket is a top choice for golfers looking for superior performance in all weather conditions. Its innovative design and proprietary Hydro-Flex 32 fabric make it a game-changer in the world of rain gear alternatives. The proprietary Hydro-Flex 32 fabric is a game-changer, providing unbeatable waterproofness and breathability. But what truly sets it apart is its ability to move with you, allowing for comfortable swings without any restrictions. Gone are the days of feeling weighed down by traditional rain gear.

PROS

  • Hydro-Flax 32 material is waterproof, windproof, and built to last.
  • Three-layer construction in the jacket allows your upper body full range of motion.
  • Material is quiet and breathable by comparison.

CONS

  • Price point is higher than other rain gear.
  • Black is the only color to choose from.
  • Some pants and jackets are currently being restocked.

Our Experience

As I stated in the opening, I consider myself well-versed when it comes to rain gear. Having tried rain gear from most of the major manufacturers, I can say without hesitation that the rain gear from Galway Bay is at the top of the list.

The design, materials, and attention to detail are unsurpassed. And unlike a lot of rain gear that gets bulky, hot, and restricts movement, the stuff from Galway Bay does anything but.

I’ve recommended Galway Bay to a lot of the guys in my regular group and I’ve yet to receive anything but positive feedback.

Conclusion

I remember the last time I played in the rain. It was at Bandon Dunes on the Oregon Coast. While the weather was mild for the majority of the trip, there were a couple days when the skies opened up.

A lot of the guys in our group had rain gear that just didn’t get the job done. Thankfully, I had all my Galway Bay stuff at the ready. It kept me warm, dry, and smiling the whole way around.

If you’re in the market for quality rain gear and don’t mind making the investment, Galway Bay is as good as it gets.
